Isolation breach: personal locks are not optional

On Monday a contractor was found working on the chip conveyor under a permit but without a personal lock on the isolation. Work was stopped and the permit suspended. Every person working under an isolation must fit their own lock before starting. Supervisors will verify locks at every live permit this week. Report any isolation concern to the HSE team.

The recovery boiler total reduced sulphur reading exceeded the licence limit for 25 minutes on 4 September during a liquor firing upset. The regulator was notified within the required time. The investigation is open and crews will be briefed on the findings. Operators must report any reading trending towards a limit immediately.

The 36-hour shutdown from 17 October covers the forming fabric change, press roll change and dryer inspection. All work orders for the shutdown must be raised and planned by 26 September. Late additions will only be accepted with the General Manager's approval. Contractors must complete site induction before 10 October.

Winder 1 reel damage project

Reel edge damage claims are the finishing plant's improvement project this quarter. Forklift contact in the reel store on Saturday downgraded three reels. Aisle markings will be repainted and reel store traffic rules reviewed with every crew. Ideas for reducing handling damage are welcome at the toolbox talks.

Health and safety committee elections

Nominations are open for health and safety representatives on B and D panels until 19 September. Representatives receive training and paid time for their role and sit on the site committee that reviews incidents and policies. Speak with the HSE Manager or your supervisor if you are interested.
