The situation

What has happened

The Production Plan for October to December 2026 has been approved with a quarterly target of 47,500 saleable tonnes at 88 per cent efficiency, a repeating grade cycle, a 36-hour shutdown from 17 October and fibre and environmental targets. Week one starts on 1 October with fluting grades. Customer orders from four box plants must be allocated to the cycle, fibre yard stock is 5,400 tonnes with a held contractor load, refiner 2 needs a plate inspection, and the recovery boiler exceedance investigation is open. The General Manager also wants an evaluation of how the pulp line and effluent plant are tracking against the environmental licence and the quality system before the external audit on 3 November.

Your brief. Convert the approved plan into a week one schedule that allocates orders, confirms fibre, chemical and maintenance readiness and briefs supervisors, and prepare an evaluation of the pulp line and effluent plant against regulatory and quality requirements with findings and actions for the production meeting.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Evidence should show a schedule that respects the grade cycle and totals to a plausible weekly tonnage, readiness actions drawn from the actual records, compliance findings that cite log entries and licence limits, quality gaps that reference the policy requirements, and a meeting paper that a general manager could act on. The emerging technology assessment should be evidence-led rather than promotional.
