The situation

What has happened

Three loads from Eastern Waste and Recovery Contractors are due this morning after the night crew held one of their loads at an estimated nine per cent contamination. The first truck is a tipping truck declared as old corrugated containers, the second is baled mixed paper with two broken straps visible, and the third is declared as sorted office paper but the top of the load shows plastic film and food packaging. The weighbridge is working and the superintendent has asked you to inspect each load properly, grade it, record it and hold anything over the limit. The yard is busy with a forklift stacking bales in bay 2.

Your brief. Receive the three loads in accordance with the Recovered Fibre Receival and Inspection Procedure, inspect and grade each one, decide which loads to accept, hold or reject, record every load and the yard stock in the Production Shift Log, and raise any hazard you find.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Look for the student following the procedure in order, correctly identifying the prohibited and contaminating items, holding rather than rejecting the office paper load pending the superintendent, and recording the loads with tonnes and yard stock. The safety explanation must include walkways, the tipping bay exclusion and driver location. The hazard form should be factual and name the supervisor notified.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
